Leaders Gather Online to Reflect on Sacrifice in Christian Leadership

In the first week of August, more than 100 senior leaders from across our system came together in six online forums, representing Principals, Heads of Primary, Heads of Secondary, ELC Leaders, Project Officers, and Business Managers.

These sessions provided a space to connect and engage deeply with the theme: What are we called to sacrifice as Christian leaders?

Leaders reflected on the following sacrifices that may be part of leadership:

  • The need to control

  • Ego and pride

  • Our own agenda and self-interest

  • Power

  • Personal credit

  • Personal advantage

  • Our own bias

  • Complete independence

Equally important was recognising what God does not expect us to sacrifice:

  • Family

  • Our relationship with God

  • Other roles and responsibilities

  • Core values

  • Health

  • Our identity and character

  • Creativity

  • Rest and play

  • Ourselves at the expense of those who depend on us

  • All of our time

The forums closed with a personal challenge for each leader to consider before the next session:

What are you sacrificing – and is it what God requires of you, or something He does not?

These conversations are shaping a shared understanding of leadership that is both spiritually grounded and sustainable.
